I cannot help but wonder what the future generations will think when looking back upon this time in history. I firmly believe that those who come after us will harbor the same sickness to their stomachs as we endure when looking back upon history. The ignorance of history and lack of common sense is displayed time and again by the alleged "leaders" who have allowed history to become stuck in a repetitive loop that always ends with the common people paying the price with their sweat, money and blood.
The Persian and Roman empires that took centuries to build and paid for with the sweat, money and blood of the common people were swiftly destroyed by their own leaders who ignored history and lacked common sense. Is one not sickened by the actions of those like Petain, Nivelle and Haig? Men who knew history but chose to ignore the lessons of battle that were paid for with blood. "Leaders" who did not apply even a hint of common sense as they sent tens of thousands of their own troops marching, as if on parade, into the German meat grinder.
In the time leading up to the 1929 market crash we see the clear cause of the crash originating with the alleged "leaders" on both sides of the congressional isle; farm tariffs from the republicans and the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act from the democrats. Ignorance and apathy among the political leaders followed the market collapse resulting in making a regular depression a "Great Depression". Even the current events did not resonate with our leaders who pushed socialist legislation while socialist countries came out of the depression quickly by adopting capitalist ideals. Countries like Italy and France cut taxes and government spending which quickly brought them out of the depression while the socialist push drove the United States deeper into depression.
In the years leading up to WWII, history shows us the arrogant display of ignorance, apathy and isolationism by the political leaders. History also shows us a clear picture of the ignorance of history displayed by our military leaders prior to December, 7, 1941 where ships, aircraft and supplies were packed into neat and easily destroyed piles. Any shred of common sense was discarded including the very old adage of, "Don't put all your eggs in one basket."
Does one not wonder why the February 26, 1993 attack by Muslim terrorists on United States soil were completely ignored, thus resulting in the massive Muslim terrorist attacks eight years later on September 11, 2001? Now, eight years after the 2001 attacks, ignorance and apathy continue to be on full display as we set terrorists free and allow our borders to remain un-secure.
Despite the tremendous amount of learning material presented by history, our leaders insist on making the same mistakes of both pre-1929 and post 1929. The very same socialist ideas, pushed by both democrat and republican politicians alike, that drove the United States into the Great Depression are not being avoided today despite history having proven them to be utter failures. Our current lot of alleged "leaders" are not simply ignoring the facts of history but rather they are embracing the proven socialist failures with open arms.
One need not consult a crystal ball, tarot cards or tea leaves to see what the future brings as history provides us with an extremely accurate and detailed account of what lies in our future. History will continue to provide not only a clear picture of our past but also a clear picture of our future for as long as we choose to be ignorant of the lessons to be learned from past mistakes. Every time you hear a politician using the words "hope", "change" or "help" know that it really means "repeating the same destructive mistakes of the past".
A quick review of history shows us that Franklin Roosevelt also campaigned promising "hope, change and help" only to push the socialist ideas that created the "Great Depression of the United States". History clearly shows us that when our capitalist economy adopted the social and economic suffering of Roosevelt Socialism, socialist countries that adopted capitalist tax and government cuts did not suffer our "Great Depression" lasting more than a decade.
As we head into the decades of yet another Great Depression that will come to be blamed on "Obama Socialism", understand that the true blame is not shouldered by just one man, Obama, but lies with the collective effort of politicians as a whole. The damage to private capitalist business caused by Roosevelt Socialism is again being repeated in the form of such legislation as; Stimulus, Healthcare and Public Transit. Destruction of our manufacturing capacity is again being repeated by the likes of Cap & Trade, increased corporate taxes and "Green". Destruction of individual wealth and freedom is again being repeated in the form of mandated health insurance, loss of property rights, gun control and taxing the rich.
Every day another page of history is repeated by politicians from both major parties who refuse to learn from the mistakes of the past. Not a day goes by that the media does not attempt to hide the truth behind the veil of republican verses democrat when the reality is that both parties share in the blame of stupidity caused by the ignorance of history. Despite what politicians and talking heads on both sides of the isle claim, this is not a republican or democrat battle; the battle being waged is between capitalism and socialism.
Those people who believe they have individual rights, freedom and the opportunity to advance themselves in business or employment are in fact capitalists. Those people who believe they should have no individual rights or freedom are socialists. If you believe that the money you earn working is yours to do with as you please, you are in fact a capitalist. If you believe the money you earn from working belongs to the government, you are a socialist.
The labels of "conservative" and "liberal" only serve to cloud the picture and hide the truth of the real battle between capitalism and socialism. If you choose to keep the money you earn by working, you are a capitalist, however, if you choose to spend every penny you earn, you are a "liberal capitalist". The same applies to a capitalist who is thrifty and thus a "conservative capitalist". No matter if you choose to be conservative or liberal, you are still either a capitalist or a socialist. The labels of "left", "right", "liberal" and "conservative" are applied solely as an effort to gain support for a particular political party and you must first and foremost identify yourself as being either capitalist or socialist.
