That isn't the point - of course it'll work!
It would be a stupid idea to leave it as is from a life safety perspective as well as the life of your charger. The manufacturer included it in the design for safety reasons. It's your charger now - do with it as you like. Just one thing to remember.
Most of the participants here at MarkKw's Inside Tools have significant electrical experience. You asked for assistance and were rewarded with good, solid information nto help you troubleshoot and repair your charger safely. What you choose to do with that info - use or ignore - is your choice.
