I have two chain wrenches with which several miles of rigid conduit have been coupled and uncoupled. One is a Vicegrip product. The other is a $15 wrench from Harbor Freight.
The Harbor Freight unit has a 14" forged handle while the Visegrip model uses the body of the 10" Vicegrip pliers. Both have been used to break joints on rigid and IMC pipe exposed to the weather for 20+ years. The Vicegrip model is great in tight places. Leverage is reduced somewhat as a result of the shorter overall length of the tool.
Both have performed flawlessly. Definatly worth a lokk.
