My key has a tiny glass tube inside it that I can see. I already have three extra regular keys for the truck to open the doors with but only the one ignition chip key. I haven't tried the regular keys in the ignition because the key shop guy told me if I tried that the computer would lock up for 15 minutes and not allow the truck to start. It seems that there is a mess of conflicting information on this subject, and the GM system is completely different than the Ford system. Tonight I'll simply hold the chip key next to the switch and try to start the truck with one of the regular keys. If it works, I'll just tape the tiny glass tube to the inside of the plastic cover near the key switch. Stay tuned........
