I don't do a lot of work with brass fittings, but whenever I have to seal a brass fitting that's a standard taper pipe thread I usually go back to the good old gray pipe dope that has a little "tooth" to it. It seems to lubricate the threads well and with the slightly gritty texture it fills and stays in the threads. The excess can be easily wiped clean and you are left with a really nice looking joint. I've tried teflon tape and the white teflon pipe dope, but the tape seems to be a pain to use and the joints seem to always leak. The white teflon dope is a mess to use and it seems to get all over everything but the joint. That's my story and I'm stickin to it......
