My family treasures a lullaby that my grandmother used to sing, but no one is really clear about the words - they exist only as a series of phonemes echoing dimly in my memory - but here is an approximation made up of phonetic recollections
I picitti ti piangiano (chiangiano?) (the little ones are crying?)
susotto le lenzole (beneath the sheets?)
I picitti ti piangiano

Susu sa campanera (the nurse - nanna? - gets up)
Ci d'unna un zuccalora (she gives them the nipple?)
Na -na -na
Na -na -na -na -na na
I am sure however about the melody - which I can't convey here - but - any thoughts? Ring any bells?
