[There are many, many quotes in the world. Some have no impact. Others make no sense. Sometimes even the person being quoted isn’t sure what the hell they said. But every now and again, a quote occurs that means something or strikes some sense inside you.] To this world, light I bring. Though suppressed and cast down, I will arise as the king. To the IWA and the CAL: I am awaiting my crown. - Danny “Fats” Argus [Maybe the most arrogant quote ever – But through it Danny meant every word. He plans to become more than a Triple Crown Champion. He’s got his sights high, and his bases covered. With Destiny by his side, he sees no limit on where his career will take him. In his mind, he shall be king.] [Though he has a problem. Apparently there’s hidden cameras wherever he goes – even in his past! Wait no there isn’t. How is some ####-hole seeing everything that goes on even when there’s no camera around? And flashback? There wasn’t even a fade – it was off camera background information – it wasn’t on camera. Home video? I don’t recall mentioning some wobbly middle-aged drunk mother####er bobbing up and down Blair Witch Project style behind me. Amanda and Deuce – wasn’t on camera either. It wasn’t smack talk it was drunken talk. Do you even pay attention? Maggot. Half the time fades are just transitions – it in no way means there is a camera. When there is, you’ll know about it, because you will be spoken to. I will not talk to someone about you I will talk at you. Yes, I will talk AT You.] [Now that that’s out of the way – and probably made this entire thing worthless for grading – we will come to the scene at hand. There is no ####ing camera present. The opponent was spoken about enough, two sentences is as long as Fats could concentrate on someone so ####ing stupid. Destiny is what matters to him, and he doesn’t need to talk about her – he is with her.] [SO. Danny and Brenna are walking on the path through the woods behind Danny’s NY home. They’ve just left the house, because it can be seen in the background as they walk away from it. The sunlight through the treetops casts an almost green light onto the forest floor. Again – THERE IS NO CAMERA. Thought I’d clarify. Thank you.] Brenna: You seemed a little upset last night after I uh after you knew what my last job was [Danny raises his black baseball cap a little on his forehead, the fresh Winchester logo on the front. He sighs, a little ashamed of his reaction.] Danny: I’m sorry, I don’t know I just it really shocked the hell out of me. I guess I just thought you’d be better off, or maybe that’s not even the words for it I’ll help you find a job for the most part, I’ll be staying in Florida you can stay here until you find an apartment and if you need to talk, we may not know each other good, but I am your big brother and I’m here for ya. [Brenna smiles and looks at Danny admirably, after his reaction last night she half expected to get beat on or kicked out and never spoken to again.] Brenna: You aren’t like the Argus men [Danny looks at her almost irritably, but more questioningly than anything.] Danny: You keep mentioning the Argus ‘men’ but there are only two of us right ? Gabriel and me? [Brenna is stricken with a solemn almost remorseful look.] Brenna: I knew nobody talked to you often, but I thought for sure people would have told you at some point [Danny stops, putting a gentle hand on Brenna’s sleeveless arm and causing her to stop. He looks her in the eye, seeming almost vulnerable as he does, speaking from the heart.] Danny: Please, Brenna what is it? [Brenna sighs and looks down at the dirt path, staring for what seems an eternity to Danny. She almost considered making a terrible attempt to change the subject and commenting about his very white shoes, but realized there’s no way anyone would go for that, especially Danny.] Brenna: You know how we were all told that mom and dad died and you were so called kidnapped [Danny scratches his shoulder through the black cotton of his t-shirt, examining Brenna’s expressions and taking in every word.] Danny: So-called? I wasn’t kidnapped? They didn’t die? Please, Brenna don’t draw this out, just tell me please [I will take this moment to stress that there is no camera present. Danny’s on the verge of tears, but being the overly masculine, he refuses to cry. Brenna’ is near tears too, her gaze never faltering from Danny’s eyes.] Brenna: Danny, it’s hard to explain I don’t understand they say that the human brain blocks out the worst memories or changes them, but I didn’t think it was true though I guess you really don’t remember [With this, Danny loses it. Spinning around his fist connects with an old scarred tree and stops dead, Danny’s weight collapsing against the tree and remaining that way. It seems all of his energy is drained from him through his angry yell “JESUS CHRIST BRENNA, I’m BEGGING YOU! JUST ####ING TELL ME ALREADY!”] [Brenna’s hands cup over her mouth, she didn’t expect this at all. A tear rolls down her cheek. However instead of running like most would, she puts a hand on his shoulder, guiding him around. As he faces her, he looks exhausted and beaten, barely able to keep his head up. She tries to gain his gaze but to no avail. It’s odd, she thinks, looking into his eyes is like looking at her own in a mirror – only there was something about his so very different, but what it was she couldn’t figure out.] Brenna: Danny, Danny shhh it’s ok, I’m sorry just please relax. I’m going to tell you I just think it’ll help if we go in the order of things happening. [Danny nods wearily as Brenna puts her hands on his shoulders, still trying to look up into his face.] Brenna: My dad is dead he did get killed your dad, he’s alive mom isn’t dead, we think, but she has disappeared and we haven’t heard from her in a couple of years [Danny looks at her, into her eyes, so much like his own. A tear rolls down his cheek. All hope is drained from his face, even with the news.] Danny: Why then why was I told that they died, why didn’t know about my dad the fake obituary!? What about that [Brenna embraces her brother, holding him tightly. Slowly his arms welcome her and hold her now too, realizing this is hard for her to talk about, as it’s hard for him to hear.] Brenna: This is going to be really hard Danny and I’m so sorry you have to hear this your dad, well him and mom never knew each other it was a one night thing at some party, she was really drunk and he [Danny closes his eyes, knowing the words that would come out if she had continued. He now despised the blood flowing through his veins.] Danny: Where is he. [His voice flat and emotionless though he’s in emotional anguish.] Brenna: Attica he did get caught, and apparently it wasn’t the first time DNA put him there for a very long time [Danny already made up his mind – he would meet his real father.] Danny: Are there others? Other Argus’ I never could remember if mom had more family or, if dad, your dad I mean, had brothers or sisters [Brenna closes her eyes, still holding her brother like a protective mother would.] Brenna: There’s a few drunks, or downright scoundrels that’s why I made the “Argus men” comments mom had a couple sisters but they’re ok it’s the Argus side but remember, you aren’t them Danny you’re better than that. I know you are, I can tell, by how you are with Destiny, and how you act with me even if we’re still a little edgy still [Brenna steps back reluctantly, looking at her big brother who’s actually showing emotion – she didn’t expect it, as anyone who knew him wouldn’t expect that much emotion. She brushes back a bit of hair that crept away from her ponytail and was dangling on the side of her face, pushing it behind her ear as she smiled at Danny, who gave an unconvincing attempt at a smile in return.] Brenna: Let’s get back we can talk more there, but in any case we’ll both be more comfortable there besides, we could get eaten by a bear out here. [She laughs faintly and it gets a chuckle out of Danny.] Danny: Lions and tigers and bears, oh my there’s none of ‘em around well, no bears right here errr my neighbor did have a bear on his porch a couple weeks ago actually [With that, Brenna takes Danny by the hand and starts back toward the house.] [Danny will have none of it. Pulling his hand away, he gives her ‘jumper cables’ tapping both of her sides and yelling, “ROAR”. She of course jumps, due to both, and turns around slugging him in the chest.] Brenna: Ass. [Danny steps back, acting shocked and over-selling it with the expression.] [Brenna has none of this, grabbing him by the ear she marches back to the house. Fade out.] Legal Disclaimer.
