Posted by Jeff on 7/9/2004, 11:04 pm Over the last week, there has been a few cases of the "Off-Camera" rule not being followed. However, the rule is something like the 'You may not use WWE wreslters in RPs' - it tends to be applied almost arbitrarily. I have refrained from making the Off Camera Rule part of the official rules page. For one reason, people tend to abuse it, performing smacktalk off camera and insist that it scores them the RP equivalent of brownie points. Additionally, some of you less experienced guys - I'm looking at you, Chris J - through no fault of your own, may just plain not be familiar with this rule. I know from experience it doesn't exist in very many of the lower level feds, and not even all upper level feds have it. What I've expected in IWA, is that we give each other courtesy with our RPing. We respect each other's storylines. If smacktalk is done, it's done in the traditional manner - about the opponent's wrestling career (any facet of, ranging from win/loss record to style employeed), and on camera. It is expected that a person will know some of what happens - although none of his RPs are on camera, most people would be aware of Jack Cross's deal with all the Russians. If you want an in-character reason, perhaps Cross slipped something to D.Leprechaun (remember him?) while in Lep's bar. Lep went on to repeat it to a friend, who eventually repeated it to a friend, who repeated it to the internet. But following the same example, no one should be able to know that a man named Ravil Davydov, sorry if I spelled that wrong, kidnapped Svetlana and tortured her with acupuncture. To use a different example, people would easily know that Kai Scott is unbalanced, due to actions he takes in the ring. See also: RDG3, following the CCK/Heidi match. They probably would not know that he is abusing painkillers. And like dSc said, you can't read thoughts. Again, let me stress this - what I'm looking for is for people to respect each other's work. Smacktalking an off camera relationship between two people is bullshit. So is an out of character attack on this. If you have a problem/question, you should be posting it on the OOC as dSc did, or emailing me and requesting I help sort it out. Missteps won't be held against anyone this week, due to the fact that some people were probably unaware of this piece of e-ettiquete. Anyone have any further questions, ask them here on the board. -Jeff
