I agree that The Matrix did stuff nobody else had, and some of the fight scenes in the last two, though great, were just... it seemed to turn into an action movie more than the first. They were fun to watch, but it became for the fight scenes rather than the story, which was ok but I think taken away from by the senseless stuff like Baine I think his name was gashing himself (If he was a Smith, why gash himself all to hell?) or the Centinals gashing the hell out of that one guy in the kick-ass robot, instead of flat out killing him like I imagine they would do if they were out to kill everyone.
-They closed chapters that were crucial but left others open.
