As far as I know the original Jacomb in NZ was Rupert Jacomb who was born in Newtown Tasmania on 6 June 1846 - 1899. He was educated at college in Melbourne and then a boarder at Wesley College when his father passed away in 1853 and his mother Catherine returned to the UK to live. On moving to NZ he married a woman who had been previously married I believe her name was Elizabeth Connelly (2nd marriage was to Rupert Jacomb)I think she was of maori descent. The children of that woman from her 1st marriage took on the Jacomb name. So some are a blood line and some are not, they had in total about 9 or more children Francis Newton Jacomb, Reginald Charles Jacomb, Florence Elizabth Annie Jacomb, Veronica Lucy Jacomb, Ada Anna Jacomb, flora Lidia Jacomb, Rupert James Jacomb, Maud Kathleen Jacomb, Arnold Ripley Wiliam Jacomb. The names of these children appear to have names of the Jacomb family, so the names of the Connelly children known as Jacomb may not be of those mentioned above. hope this helps
