
Posted by John Wise William and Matilda moved to London before 1861 where they were living in Shoreditch. On William's death in 1868, Matilda returned to Devon where she operated as a newsagent and died at Exwick in 1888. The couple had clearly prospered and some of the family returned to Devon. My Great Great Great Grandfather is also William Jacombe B 1778 in Leicester and married to Anne Blood. Their son William C 22 Dec 1806 at Hinckley. Leicestershire married Matilda Ridley (also of Leicestershire), he was a hairdresser and some time before 1840 moved to Sidwell Street in Exeter where many of their children were born.
