Hi Guillermo/William/Billy,
Just as your fore-name has evolved so too has Jacum. I have Jacum, Jacam, Jacom, Jacobs and Jacomb in my family history. The first four variables were most used in the 1800,s. By 1900, in my family, Jacomb had become the sole sur-name.
I believe that this change came about because of the illiteracy of my 1800,s family, a consequence being that the audible interpretation resulted in various spellings. In England I also believe that the name was anglicised over the years into Jacomb.
Does this help in any way ?.
Ed.
