Over the years we have been been called Jacomb in a number of different ways depending on where people has guessed we originated - 'jakkum', 'jaykum', 'yahkum', 'yakkum'. My family pronounce it 'jaykum' but we evidently had changed it 40 or so years ago from 'jakkum'. I assume most Jacombs people pronounce it this latter way. Incidentally, when I visited the village of Chacombe outside Banbury - a potential origin of the name - I was told the village was pronounced as 'chaykum' not 'chakkum'. How do you pronounce it?
