Whilst researching my Grandfathers First War History I turned up the following facts:-
My Great Grandfather was Edward George Jacomb b. 09/04/1870 at Poplar, London. He was an Orchestral Conductor who married Mabel Esther Moore on 16/06/1894 and, shortly after, they moved to America.
My Grandfather was Gordon Edward Brewer Jacomb b. 30/03/1895 in New York. Edward George died sometime between 1895 and 1900 (?) Mabel remarried Arthur Bowers and they moved to Kansas Ohio. Grandad was sent back to Britain in 1900 and we think he was looked after by his Aunt...
Ellen Jacomb who lived in Plaidstow ( or possibly Padstow) He then lived and worked in Butler & Sons,Bristol as a Drapers Assistant where he met Jannette Storie. The War intervened, he joined the 18th Hussars in 1914 (Later transferring to the Machine Gun Corps) and married Jannette by special license in 1917. After the war they moved to Gedling and lived with Jannettes Aunt and Uncle (Dawson)where my Uncle (Maurice Edward Brewer Jacomb) was born in 1920. They moved to Stretford,Manchester in 1921( Aunt Jean born), then Lancaster in 1923 ( Uncle, Dr.Rex Gordon Jacomb b. 1924) then finally, in 1926, Grandad took a job with Brough Nicholson and Hall as Scottish Rep. and they moved to Edinburgh. My Father (Peter Iain Jacomb)was born there in 1931 and There he remains to this day. The Family Bible was held by The aforementioned Aunt Ellen and was last believed to have been in the possession of Dr. Edward Jacomb on Jersey. My Father has the Family Tree which has information going back to 11th Century including Sir John who was given Burton Lazars and whose Coat of Arms is displayed on this Website.
