Posted by Tim I. Depends. Let's say I'm in a cooperative game with one other human player and two borgs. We want to maximize our colony score. Furthermore, the store has no energy and we each have quite a few units -- let's just say we have 10 each. The store may open at (say) 150. If we do nothing, our energy is valued at $1,500 per player ($150 per unit times ten units each). But if one of us lines up as a buyer and the other as a seller (the borgs will line up as buyers but won't buy in round 12), the human player buying can bid the price WAY up, well over $300 and probably to $350, before the time runs out. And just before time runs out, the human seller can sell ONE unit of energy at $350. Voila -- the value of energy is now established as $350, not $150, and instead of having $1500 of energy each, now one player has $3150 (plus an extra $350) and the other has $3850 (minus that $350). Each player has increased their worth by an extra $2000 ($3500 versus $1500), and the overall colony score by $4000. Also, if I'm the only human player, and if I have more of a commodity than the borgs, if the house has some for sale, I'll buy one of them to help reset the price (though I'm not sure if that helps).

Would I buy energy in round 12?
