my copy of the siegfried by keilberth from 1955 arrived yesterday.
when i started listening it, the first thing i noticed was the dark sound. low frequenty is more present.it doesn't make it sound bad though.
the balance in the sound is also shifted more to the singers, and they are placed right in the middle.
sound quality is not the same as the solti ring. the sound tend to get sharp when the orchestra plays loud. especially trumpets.
but hearing the singers in very good voice is wonderfull(b.t.w, when listening carefully, the prompter can be heard sometimes).
keilberth gives this siegfried a nice quick pace.
i can't wait for the rest of the pieces of this ring.
