Kna : Good you're making the disclaimer already...so I won't feel forced to rant about the many _dis_advantages of Kna Also....very nice you mentioned Boulez on DVD. The staging is in its own way very true to Wagner's stage directions...possibly truer than many 'traditional' staging (it's just that it's not implemented the way you expect it to be...but yes, every single tidbit Wagner wrote in the directions is there.....) and yes, Heinz Zednik is god's gift to character tenors. If you enjoy the 70's-80's kind of Wagner singing (i.e. lighter and softer, but generally more flexible and musical voices) this one's a treat.

Nice you're mentioning the (undermentioned if you ask me) Kempe. I was slightly less taken with the Rheingold (although I think it's very nice indeed), but the Walküre is striking with Jerome Hines and Astrid Varnay. Pity she was replaced by Nilsson for the later installments.
Incidentally, thanks for enlightening me about Fritz Uhl as Loge. He's one of my favorite Tristans and imo he was a marvellous singer. I actually might end up buying a Knappertsbusch recording just in order to hear this Loge (footnote : I _hate_ Knappertsbusch and everything he stands for from the bottom of my heart, so that goes a way of illustrating how much I like Fritz Uhl).
