The cast is identical from the Krauss-ring which was recorded about 2 weeks later except that Martha Mödl was replaced by the usual Astrid Varnay as Brünnhilde in Die Walküre, Siegfried and Götterdämmerung for Keilberth. The sound is actually very good in the Andromeda-edition I have. If the choice is between Keilberth -53 ring and Krauss I would go for Krauss, but that is because I prefer Varnay to Mödl as Brünnhilde. However if sound is important you should buy the 1955 Siegfried in stereo recently issued on the Testament label. It's excellent and the rest of the first stereo-ring is coming later this year.
