Any views after the broadcast of `Rheingold` from Bayreuth? IMO it was good but not very outstanding. After almost perfectly conducted `Tristan` and `Parsifal`, I expected a bit more from Thielemann. From the cast, Donner was better - and Rheintochter and Erda perhaps worse - than usual. Things are likely to improve with next days, since even `Rheingold` seemed to become more impressive as it moved toward the later scenes.
