I wasn't sure of what to expect from Thielemann but I thought this was an excellent perfomance. I actually prefered it to his Tristan though perhaps not to his Tannhäuser. Some of the singers were a bit uneven but mostly it was very good. Loge was my favorite. Alberich was often good but had problems with his top notes. Wotan was sometimes good, sometimes not so good. But mostly I was very impressed. I'm waiting to hear Stephen Gould as Siegfried on Saturday.
