The Carlos Kleiber recording is my favorite studio recording of Tristan und Isolde. It is somewhat controversial because it's very much a studio recording: something that couldn't have been performed live. Margaret Price never sang Isolde live. That's why many think that she shouldn't have done that in studio either. I disagree. I think it would a shame if her beautifully sung Isolde hadn't been recorded. Also some of the other singers have a bit lighter voices than most Wagner singers.
