Well, thank you Daryl for your nice summarized overview. I own Knappertsbusch 1951&1962(the `62 my favorite in many ways) the Boulez(another favorite in quite different ways)Krauss, and the Nagano video with Hampson, Meier, Salminen...I like King a lot and Moll is one of the finest basses. London remains the unsurpassed Amfortas to me, plangent sound of anguish with unequalled force in "Erbarmen..."But in general I do agree with you that, as it were, there are too many aspects to consider to name a single recording that is better or the best and therefore your little summary is just what I wanted to read-thank you
