Posted by Daryl A few years ago I posted a message on the previous iteration of this board that had to do with my burgeoning interest in collecting old 78s. One member wrote to say that I should be careful about starting this hobby as the newly acquired records will undoubtedly take up more space than I could imagine, and boy, was he right! My passing interest has turned into a full-fledged obsession and I wanted to know if anyone else on this board collects old 78s to play on their gramophones. I own two Victrolas (a VV-XIV and a VV-80) to play my acoustics and a Numark turntable to play my electrics. I have slowly built up a really nice collection of Wagner recordings on 78 and I'd like to know if anyone else collects the same thing. Please feel free to reply to me off list if you'd like, although airing out our interest in early Wagner recordings here may inspre others to explore them. You cannot imagine what new joy can be found in these early acoustics, a true time machine in every sense of the word! Off the top of my head I know I have Wagner on 78 from: Kastorsky, Bohnen, Journet, Renaud, Feinhals, Schorr, Whitehill, Thill, Schlusnus, McCormack, Slezak, Pistor, Leider, Destinn, Hamlin, de Lucia, Jorn, Andresen, Melchior, Lorenz, Berglund, Pertile, Farrar, Gadski, and more. How about you? Daryl
