As most of you know, the Kirov opera will be performing Wagner's Ring at the Met this coming July. I have been impressed with Gergiev as a Wagner conductor (having heard him conduct Parsifal in 2003), but I know nothing about the quality of the Russian soloists. Nor have I been able to find many reviews of their previous years' performances of the Ring (though I have seen photos of the stage design - rather tacky, IMO).
