The problem with Kollo is that he continued singing far too long. He ruined his reputation. In the early eighties he was very good, z.B. as Siegfried in Janowskis Ring, Lohengring for Karajan and as Tannhäuser and Parsifal in the otherwise dreadful Solti recordings. Dreadful because of Solti, one of the most overrated conductors ever.
