I know this must have been discussed elsewhere, perhaps on this or the previous iteration of this very board, but there has always been something odd about the sound in the Solti Ring. "Broken glass" is a great way to describe the sound in GTD. Not only are there audible bumps where sections were joined together, but there are odd fits and starts between sections, especially in the 1st act and the beginning of Act 3 of Siegfried. It's a colossal mess of jumbled sound, hacked and pasted back together. At least if it can be scrubbed down and painstakingly smoothed over, we may have something that is wonderful to listen to. I've always admired the performances in this Ring, but detested the choppy editing.
