Re the Parsifal - A predictably slow performance from Goodall, too slow most often, but effective in parts. Not a good night for the ROH Orchestra, who sound surprisingly ugly most of the time - the ensemble is scrappy, the trumpets often trilling out of tune and pushing forward ahead of everyone else, though this could be due to Goodall's tempi. Fair to good singing. Excellent stereo recording. A historical curiosity worth hearing and with some good moments, but not likely to be anyone's first choice overall.
