John Mitchenson sang the unedited Rienzi for Edward Downes in 1975 and is captured on a Ponto release (which I hope to acquire this weekend). I haven't heard it yet, but the reviews have Mitchenson as close to Tichatschek in this case as we will ever see. An aside: didn't we discuss this Ponto Rienzi on this board not so long ago? Is it the Voss edition?
