The reporter that asked the question is a real A$$$$$. I posted a while back about the lack of intelligent coverage by the racing media and Pockass (the name says it all here folks) is one of those reporters who the drivers are all fed up with. He has a history of asking drivers who he knows are already agitated questions that stir the pot; in this case Kurt should of backed off, but he stepped right into Pockass’s trap. Pockass was hoping for exactly what he got.
Most fans don’t watch the post race interviews held at the media center after the race, but every week the reporters ask stupid questions and every week the drivers give less that polite answers, so I’m not sure why Kurt’s makes news. Take Stewart’s answer to a stupid question from another reporter known to be an ass from ESPN.
Q. And the fact that this is the third straight race there has been no wreck, does that amaze you? Have you ever seen anything like that?
TONY STEWART: Only you would think about stuff like that. I don’t know what you think of during the race but I try to figure out how to win the race and make my car go fast. I don’t sit there and think of that petty crap you think of. Glad to see you’re back to form.
The above example is better if you go to the link below and watch the interview on video because Dale Jr. is sitting next to Tony chewing on his hand trying not to laugh because he was thinking the same thing Tony was saying. Everyone would like to kick Dave’s a$$$ because he always asks attack type non-issue questions. In this interview Tony was already upset about the water bottle caution and Newton was fishing to stir the pot; in this case Tony stepped into it, but he used the word crap and not shiiiitttt.
Tony had another Brush with the media after his crash this weekend on lap nine; it was all he could do not to throttle a couple of the stupid reporters who asked stupid questions. His answers did not get on video but he was less than pleased with the line of questions and basically told the group they were all idiots and if they couldn’t come up with a good question than shut the f up.
In short Kurt was at fault for attacking Pockass he should not have cussed and he should not have threated him, but that’s not his nature. On the flip side all the drivers are giving him a pat on the back because most of them have been wanting to kick Pockass’s a$$$$ for the past five years or more.
The view from my shop is that I personally would have no problem if they removed about ¾ of the reporters from the garage. That’s just my take from being around some of these guys. I also don’t think he should have been suspended for this; the guy is a freelance reporter who really should not been allowed to be on pit road right after the race asking questions. It was a non-issue question that was meant to get a reaction and NASCAR should have taken a look at why he asked that question. Take Care
