I am no longer a middle school teacher (I was there due to re-shuffling because of budget woes 2 years ago). I asked to be transferred back to the high school and it was granted. Yay!
As for your teacher - I always like it when a kid shows some thinking, even if the answer is dubious. In the end, actual thinking is the goal.
