I have heard the Ford rumor, but I donít believe it. What I do believe is that Ford basically kicked in the extra money for Roush to hang on to him. The main impasse I think was dollars and Lee White (who hates Jack and Jack hates him) from Toyota was offering more than Jack would pay. Lee was probably doing it more for spite than anything else. So basically Carl is signed to Roush with Ford kicking in a few million to make up the difference that Toyota was offering. I think Ford got very little to no control for their money, but they may have gotten a non-compete for an extended deal. So as long as Carl stays with Ford they will pay a portion of his contract, if he departs he agrees not to go to Toyota.
As far as him going to the 22 I have not heard that part of the rumor; Penske controls that and Roger is not one to let manufactures tell him what to do. Roger will run whatever manufacture will pay the most money and or give him the best advantage; he is probably the least brand loyal owner in the garage. Nothing wrong with that because you always know where you stand with him; he has run just about every make under the sun. So if Ford demands that Carl be in the seat they may find the door shut in their face. If they offer compensation for Carl being in the seat then it might happen, but again I think Roush controls Carlís contract so I think some folks like Chuck are just dreaming that up. Take Care
