"Wind Tunnel" tonight, Dave Despain, David Hobbs, Kyle Petty, and John Andretti, all agreed that NASCAR has basically became the IROC Series, and they need to get back to letting the team owners, and their engineers, and their mechanics, and the crew chief have a little control over the car they show up with at the track with. Not a car that was built to 100% of NASCAR specs. Only makes sense if all the cars are built to the same specs they're all going to be pretty much equal which will always create boring racing.
I believe it was John who said NASCAR needs to be a little more like F1 and take a good hard long look at three things, tires, engine performance and aerodynamics.
Chuck, evrything you mentioned in your post, adding a bus stop or chicane to the back stretch or only letting one tire changer over the wall at a time are gimics. This actually sounds like something Brian France would try to cater to the casual NASCAR fan. The purist doesn't want to see any of that crap.
