Posted by keith Popko That tunnel proved to be a rich source of softballs and kickballs from the playground because there was a drainage tunnel leading from the playground to that lower tunnel, so it got fed a steady supply of balls from kids who weren't quick enough to track down something headed its way. Do you remember the tunnel at the far end of the playground near the swamp? That was the location of a "party" hosted by my brother Rick's classmate, Steve Frankenburg, when we were third graders. I'll just say that it involved a liquid refreshment that was legal for adults only. That party became quite the scandal, but I was one of the lucky few who didn't get caught. You asked about Marty - he is living in Nevada near Reno. He has owned and operated a locksmith shop there for many years now. I last talked to him 2 or 3 years ago. He has a computer but doesn't use the internet. I visited him about 20 years ago and he hasn't changed much except for a few pounds, like the rest of us. In my case, as the pounds came on the hair on my head came off - oh well. It's a good thing my looks aren't hampered by the distraction of a full head of hair. By the way, Julie, I was talking with Chuck Olson recently and he reminded me of the monkey that you and Nancy had when you were kids. I had forgotten about that. I'll bet you have some stories about that monkey because he was a viscious little beast. Chuck and I have been biking together a little and we rode past your old home on the lake. He recently bought a home on Lake Ojaski (sp?) not too far from Luther Bible Camp. Keep the tequila handy, maybe I'll swing by some day on my bike. Keith

Hello Nancy and Julie. Do I remember the walk through the drainage tunnel beneath the football field with you, Julie? Absolutely. It seems to me that that trip followed our exploration of Rae's house after they had moved out. To me that was more creepy. I remember finding a cupcake that was left behind that was topped with jelly beans. The trip through the tunnel was old hat for me, though it always elevated the blood pressure until we got to the midway point. Then we could relax a little more as the opening on the far end appeared to expand and seemed within easy reach.
