Posted by julie schultz About the monkey...you are refering to Tina. My sister ordered her out of the back of a magazine and she was delivered to the post office by freight train. I remember the day my dad drove to town to pick her up. When he got her home, she escaped from her crate and climbed to the top of a maple tree in our yard. My dad had to get a ladder and climb up to retrieve her, all the while she was hissing and spitting, my sister was crying, the poor, scared thing. (the monkey, not my sister) My sister was the only one that she would have anythng to do with; that is, until she accidently ran over its tale with her skateboard. I think we ended up selling it to Duane Olson who kept it at Stu's Standard Station when he worked there. Quite the draw, I'm sure! Say, Keith, where is Jerry Fitzgerald? The Byrnes family? And are we going to have a 40th reunion, do you think? I would be up for it. Maybe we could go in with some other classes. Take care, Diane and Donald Korbitz??? When I read one of your entries where you mentioned them, I flipped. I haven't thought about them since they lived here. How long DID they live here, anyway?

Hey Keith,
Yes, I certainly recall hearing about the infamous 5th grade tunnel party where there were certain libations provided. In fact, I think my cousin, Mary, may have attended. I don't remember hearing that YOU were there, however. You must have really kept that under wraps; unless my mind is slipping worse than I thought. I also remember exploring Rae's abandoned house. (My sister use to refer to them as "The Mole People", because she thought they resembled the varmints.) But, really, Keith, a cupcake with jellybeans on top? Wow, are you injecting Ginko Bahova or something? My memory just isn't what it use to be. When a song from HS came on the radio, I use to not only be able to immediately know the title and all the words, but the artist as well. Now I'm lucky if I can recall a word in the title. Oh well, I guess I should do more crossword puzzles or something.
You probably know that my mother sold her Prairie Lake house last summer and now resides in Chetek. We had a huge garage sale right before she moved and I remember walking around the property one last time. A ton of childhood memories flashed through my mind, it was a bittersweet experience. It was a good move for my mother, as the house was getting to be too much for her. But it sure was a wonderful place to grow up. I think we must have taught the whole town to waterski. Did you ever go to Turtle Slough with me? Nancy and I drove by there awhile back and it has been dredged out. Sad. That was such a magical place. I also remember the times when a bunch of us would silently paddle our speed boat out to the middle of the lake after my parents went to bed, then start the motor and drive all around the lake, then shut off the motor, paddle back to the dock, and sneak back up to the house. I've asked Mom if she ever knew we did that and she said no, but it didn't surprise her!
Julie
