Posted by keith Popko Where is Turtle Slough? The only slough I know about is Bum's Slough, which feeds the swimming pool. Oh boy, do I remember waterskiing for the first time at your place the summer before going into 9th grade. I had my ski tips up as instructed, waiting for your parents to gun the boat. The only problem was that the ends of the ski rope handles were resting on my inner thighs. When the boat blasted from rest to 90 mph in that first millisecond the flesh on each inner thigh ripped away from my legs - OUCH!!! But I got up! I'm not sure where Jerry is. I had heard that he was living somewhere in California after retiring from the Air Force a number of years ago. I had also heard that he had some kind of software business, but I'm not sure how accurate that is. Betty Byrnes still lives in Cameron and looks and talks the way she always did - she is sharp as a tack. She works in the old Home Store building, which is now a liquidator store, as a cashier. I know that at least one of her daughters lives in the Cameron area because I have had Betty's grandkids as students. Pat has been in Montana for many years, Dan is in Bloomer, and Peggy, last I heard, is in Rockford, Illinois. I haven't seen Peg since their family threw a surprise 65th birthday party for Betty back in the early 90s. Don't know about a 40th reunion. There hasn't been any talk of it, although I don't see many local people around here to discuss it with. If people are waiting for me to organize it they will have a long wait. As far as the Korbitz family, I think they were in Cameron during our 5th and 6th grade years. I wish I knew where they went. They were nice kids, although it embarrassed me that Diana took a liking to me. I remember Nancy skateboarding at your home, back when skateboards were in their infancy, and much harder to ride compared to today's boards. I never could get the hang of those things and wondered how could she do it if I couldn't. Another of life's mysteries. I didn't remember the monkey going to Duane Olson. I wonder how long its stay lasted at Stu's Standard. Oh, one other memory just came to me, and I don't know if I ever told you about this. The summer after graduation Randy L., Mike E. (both class of 70), and I went skinny dipping late one night at your grandpa's place. I sure did some crazy stuff back then. My best to you,
