Posted by keith The Rae family seemed to have a ton of kids, but none were in our grade; perhaps that's why you don't remember them. Nancy's description is pretty accurate as far as appearance goes. I have no memory of what they were like as people. They also reminded me of the TV "Farkle" familiy of "Laugh In" fame - you know how all the kids looked exactly like the man who lived next door. It was like they all came from the same mold. But, coming from a family of 9 kids there were a lot of people who felt we all looked alike too. Every once in a while I'll see Charles, the oldest boy (class of '63), in Rice Lake, still looking much the same.

If you were walking toward the school going on the road past Bud Leisz's gas station, the Rae house was the first house to the left when you got to the T intersection overlooking the gully which boarded the road running past the north side of the school. Their house seemed to tip precipitously over that big gully, and everytime I was in sight of it I had to check to see if it had fallen in yet - it just seemed to defy the law of gravity. I always wondered what would happen first, the Rae house falling into the gully or the house that sat next to the gully getting completely flooded in the spring.
