Posted by keith I also remember the "club" started by that certain female classmate. Of course it was born out of sheer jealousy - what else could it have been, really? You were the prettiest, smartest, and most socially approachable girl in the entire class. I always felt you set the standard for "classiness", not just for our grade but for classes in front and behind us as well. Second grade teacher's name was Mrs. Brown. I'm pretty sure that my "incident" was during standardized testing, when teachers are not allowed to assist kids. She didn't clarify her statement enough to exclude bathroom necessities and I suffered the consequences. It was Mrs. Brown who stimulated in me a deep dislike for art. I was always a pretty slow worker when it came to art and so she would stand behind me and harp, "Why are you always the last one done? Hurry up!" The first chance I got to drop art (freshman year?) I did. Interestingly, teaching art, when I get the chance, is one of my favorite things now. Jeff Lundmark moved from Cameron just prior to the beginning of 5th grade. I really hated to see him leave because he was my best friend along with Chuck Olson. I always promised myself I'd track him down one day, and I did. From Cameron he moved to Ellsworth, and from there I learned his family moved to Shawano, Wisconsin. I drove over there in 1978 (?) and talked with his parents. After high school he joined the Army and became a Ranger (very dangerous stuff) and did two tours in VietNam. Like so many others he was emotionally scarred by his experiences, though I'm not sure if he suffered any physical wounds. Once he got out of the Army he pretty much cut himself off from his family. He moved to Denver (and coincidently enough, he lived just several blocks from an acquaintance of mine from there) but never maintained much contact with his family. I'm not sure what kind of work he does. I tried writing to him but he never responded, which is what his parents anticipated. Most vivid noontime songs for me: (She Wore) Blue Velvet, (We'll) Sing in the Sunshine, and House of the Rising Sun/There is a House in New Orleans. Another memory: when John Olson moved to Cameron when we were in 3rd grade, you Julie declared, "It was love at first sight!"

Whew!!! Let me catch my breath - (I just finished a 40 mile bike ride). OK Julie, you would know about the perfume and I'll certainly take your word for it. That being said, you must have been one well-scrubbed and shampooed babe because you absolutely tickled the olfactories of those near you. I definitely remember a pleasantly lingering smell on my shirt after dancing with you. Sereptitiously taking a whiff of my shirt during afternoon classes is what got me through the day. It must have been good enough to overshadow my sweaty little hormone drenched body.
