Posted by julie I remember the "going to the symphony" day; infact, I have a couple pictures of us all dressed up! That was the year I got my Brownie (not to be confused with the dreaded uniform)camera for Christmas. I was always snapping pictures, as evident of all the shots I have of us during 4th grade. I remember being on the playground one winter noon hour taking pictures, and some boys (Billy, Keith, Chuck, John, Jeff, maybe)told me "Schultz, get your licey (remember boys and girls had lice?) old camera out of here!" I was crushed.

Good morning Jean (etc),
Yes, I clearly recall Mrs. Orn's dual eye colors. I liked Mrs. Hoople, though. Probably because she sent in one of my stories to Let's Write and it was read, to my surprise, over one of the programs. I still have it somewhere, I think. It was a Cold War story about some Ruskies digging a hole to freedom. I'm sure you ALL remember it.??! Keith, you mentioned the nuke drills. I was obsessed with the threat of Communism back then, even had dreams about nuclear wars) But what I remember the most about grade 7 (besides Kennedy's assasination, which I think we should cover later on) was making endless booklets. I use to stay up until midnight some nights trying to get them done. My mother had to help me so I could get to bed. I remember her once saying, what do the kids do whose mothers aren't helping them? Booklets, booklets, booklets. Vocabulary sheets, pictures of the characters (what if you couldn't draw?)....did we do anything else that year? The one I remember the most was the Legend of Sleepy Hollow booklet. I was a little freaked out by Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman. What were some other ones? Anyone recall?
