Posted by keith My most vivid memory of Mr. S. is when he had me witness him giving a spanking to Dave Nichols because he was bullying me on the playground - he was 3 or 4 years older than me. I think I was in 2nd or 3rd grade at that time and the sound of Mr. Switzenberg's hand making sharp contact on Dave's ass was quite impressive, and the sound of his crying was most satisfying. I never had trouble with him after that. My other memory of him was when he went from classroom to classroom to check the bottoms of kids' shoes, looking for the "clips" we pried off the bottom of chair legs. We put them on the bottom of our shoe heels because we discovered they made a splendid noise when walking down the hallways. The richer kids simply bought shoe clips at the hardware store. It wasn't long before they were banned entirely. As for the song, if you could hear it once I'm sure you would remember.

Yes, Mr. Switzenberg was super/principal - it seems to me we called him the superintendent. My memory of Sherry was that of a quiet and likeable girl who struggled in most classes. They moved from Cameron after 6th grade. I remember her wearing light blue framed glasses to help her overcome a slight problem of crossed-eyes.
