My parents' anniversary was during this time and I wondered at the time if we would make it to October 25th, which was their anniversary. If you want to watch a great movie about it get the dvd called "Thirteen Days" - they get into a lot of stuff that the public wasn't privy to even some time afterwards - chilling stuff.

I remember gathering in Mrs. Nelson's room to watch the unfolding events - one of the few times that the TV was used. My most distinct memory of that was turning around and seeing Mrs. Nelson standing behind all of us kids, and she was SMILING! My god, I couldn't believe it. I don't think I slept for about 3 or 4 days after that. And yes, I did witness Oswald getting shot - unbelievable.
