I loved Mort, no messing around in his class. He simply commanded your respect and not many kids challenged him. I learned to really love history because of him, and even considered becoming a history teacher at one time. Unfortunately, someone who had influence with me talked me out of it, saying "you'll never make any money in teaching." Because of that comment I floundered for years in what to do with my life; I should have followed my heart from the very beginning but I was to immature to see the wisdom of doing that.
