If The Peemeister wants more of an audience, he should seriously think about introducing KC to other groups of RPG fans. My friend Bridget "Yossy" Garofalo, for example, belongs to a RPG Maker forum called "Crankeye" which (from what I understand) has been more or less untouched by members from either GGZ or GW's forums. (The undeniable proof: Bridget could make a post proclaiming her love for Shichimenchouken, and although nobody else would have heard of the game, she wouldn't be banned.) As for including KC characters in Frontiers Extreme, don't hold your breath. Frontiers Extreme is for characters and other creations of the RPG Frontier staff, and last I checked, P.M. has never set foot in that IRC channel before. There's a short KC parody towards the end of "Lord of the Sunflowers," though. And maybe an NPC in Scienceville will criticize the Tekiel Ciphers' Guild for its emphasis on special effects study, perhaps claiming it to be the "gateway" to more dangerous activities such as parade float worship. --Previous Message--
Like Mr. Batten, I am also familiar with the original RM2K version of Kinetic Cipher, and it was one of the first games in my RM folder as well. Although me and the GGZ people never really got along with Brickroad and the GW people, I always respected the amount of story, personality, and soul that Brickroad put into KC. And since it continued to be his project well into 2007, that only shows his unwavering devotion to it. It had some interesting gameplay ideas, too. The effect of playing a true old-school RPG (with somewhat underwhelming graphics, but an altogether immersive atmosphere nevertheless) is the effect that Brasington is going for with DW4: Renaissance, and Brickroad has certainly succeeded in that department with KC. (He also gets some bonus points for being a Kirby fan. lol kiby)
: Kinetic Cipher, the original, was one of the
: first RM2K games I've ever played, along
: with A Blurred Line, Elcothied, Phylomortis
: 2, and (of course) Shichi and the two
: LeGends. It was partially responsible for
: shaping my overall impressions and opinions
: of RM2K, and deserves its rightful place in
: amateur RPG history. I honestly didn't know
: the KC legacy was carried on through all
: these years, and made the switch from RM2K
: to RM2K3, but I'll give it a try.

: It's a game called Kinetic Cipher Again, and
: it's for RPG Maker 2003.
:
: I'm telling you about it not just because
: it's a good game (which has some of the
: best-designed areas in any RPG Maker game
: I've played), but because IT NEEDS ATTENTION
: BADLY. The author is thinking of quitting
: production on this game if it doesn't have a
: big enough audience. And I think it would
: be a huge shame if good fan-games like this
: were overshadowed by extremely bad fan-games
: where everyone is like "OMG, U SUK! I
: WILL KILL U!!!!!!1" and the story is
: poorly developed and there are too many
: glitches... you see where I'm going with
: this? Of course, I wasn't talking about any
: of your games... these games are good, just
: like this one.
:
: I think Brasington should support KCA, don't
: you? Spread the word! Maybe you can give a
: little shout-out to the game by putting some
: of the game's characters in Frontiers
: Extreme as cameos, perhaps?
:
: By the way, the game can be found at this
: site.
:
:
: And now, I shall descend from my soapbox,
: and see what you guys think.
