In Brickroad's rant, he mentioned something about refusing to sell out or "whore" Kinetic Cipher to the "right people" in order to receive more popularity and praise. I'm curious as to who these "right people" exactly are. Perhaps they were responsible for Legion Saga's popularity? Or Laxius Power's? Maybe they could give KC a boost in its hour of need if The Peemeister would swallow his pride. I doubt they'd do much for Brasington, though, because something tells me the "right people" are somehow connected to GW. But anyway, long story short: Support Brickroad. Download his game. And DON'T support Vista. If you find yourself buying a new Windows computer, insist on XP as your operating system. --Previous Message--
I've played KCA before, and I can sum it up in four words: THAT DUDE CAN WRITE! His RM2K-based FF6 fanfic, "Maranda," is also a must-download. Makes you see that aspect of FF6's story in a whole different light, it does! It's a real shame to see it go, but I know Indogutsu often worries about how Brasington doesn't have enough of an audience, so these misgivings are probably more or less universal among RPG Maker game authors. The fanbases for games created with these programs aren't what they were five years ago, and thanks to Microsoft and *(^!$*)$^!@)*!^$)* Windows Vista, soon there won't be any RM users left! (For those of you who don't know, RM2K and related programs can't run on Vista.)
: You know what I think Brickroad should do to
: get himself a bigger audience? Submit his
: game to RPG Atelier . It seemed to work for
: his friends Brandon Abley and Theo Mathlein,
: the creators of the Goldstern-winning
: "Wilfred the Hero" and
: "Sunset over Imdahl." RPG Advocate
: won the Silberstern for "Phylomortis
: 2," as did Brasington for DW4:
: Renaissance!
:
: It's a shame the RPG Arena (which was either
: run by Kamau or a friend of his, I forgot
: which) is no longer in business, or that
: would be another great place to host and
: advertise Kinetic Cipher.

: It's a game called Kinetic Cipher Again, and
: it's for RPG Maker 2003.
:
: I'm telling you about it not just because
: it's a good game (which has some of the
: best-designed areas in any RPG Maker game
: I've played), but because IT NEEDS ATTENTION
: BADLY. The author is thinking of quitting
: production on this game if it doesn't have a
: big enough audience. And I think it would
: be a huge shame if good fan-games like this
: were overshadowed by extremely bad fan-games
: where everyone is like "OMG, U SUK! I
: WILL KILL U!!!!!!1" and the story is
: poorly developed and there are too many
: glitches... you see where I'm going with
: this? Of course, I wasn't talking about any
: of your games... these games are good, just
: like this one.
:
: I think Brasington should support KCA, don't
: you? Spread the word! Maybe you can give a
: little shout-out to the game by putting some
: of the game's characters in Frontiers
: Extreme as cameos, perhaps?
:
: By the way, the game can be found at this
: site.
:
:
: And now, I shall descend from my soapbox,
: and see what you guys think.
