Posted by IN.DO.GU.TSU on 9/5/2007, 12:15 pm, in reply to "Re: Another Waitohooru Sighting" As for using Float on Earth Dragon II, I did that, but I didn't really need to, as he was one of the easier new bosses. He only used Quake once, at the very beginning of the battle. And besides, whatever HP it recovers can be easily offset by a single Ultima, and even more so by Quick Ultima Ultima. Another thing I did was go through the final series of battles a bunch of times, while stealing absolutely everything (seven Elixirs, an Ultima Weapon, a Ragnarok, and a Megalixir). Yeah, since you can save after beating Kefka in this version, why not take unfair advantage? Of course, you don't need to do any of this, because FF6 is easy and has a lot of ways to exploit the system. Thanks to Osmose, you can cast as many spells as you want without worrying about running out of MP. Thanks to Flame Shields (which you can mass-produce by buying lots of Falchions in Maranda and betting them at the Coliseum), the Meltdown spell can potentially be a combination of Ultima and Curaga, provided none of your enemies are resistant to fire or wind. (This allows you to perfectly bounce back from a Heartless Angel by Kefka or a Fiend Dragon.) A couple of days ago, I finished the Soul Shrine without batting an eyelash. I guess when everyone's at Level 99, you have very little to fear, and not much left to do. That's why the secret to a good RPG that stays challenging and fun is one where you can't just start slaughtering enemies left and right when you reach the highest experience level. But it's time for me to put FF6 Advance away for now, and embark on an entirely different journey. One where demons fight angels, humans, and other demons, anime-inspired madcap humor abounds, you get stronger by appealing to crooked politicians, and penguins explode. --Previous Message--
Well, truth be told, I kind of overleveled as an overcompensatory measure; I've seen and read a lot of horrific stories about the new bosses, and I saw several YouTube videos where the uploaders fought the new bosses. However, upon further investigation of the videos, I saw that the parties were woefully underprepared; in one video where a party was fighting Skull Dragon II, only three of the four members knew the necessary Rasp spell, so Sabin had to defend every turn. You'd think with Rasp's 20x learn rate, it'd be one of the first spells you'd have everybody learn, since it's the safest way to beat Ultima Weapon.
: Well, all I have to say is that the Dragon's
: Den (no relation to the DQ fansite of the
: same name) makes Kefka's Tower seem like a
: walk in the park! Anyway, did you defeat
: the Earth Dragon using my advice?
