The lack of direction is a bit obnoxious at times, yes, but it can pretty much be summarized as "explore further in the tower". Note that there *are* secret doors in some areas. There's also a quest board at the Guild; I missed this for a while my first time around.
I went with a straight-up Fighter/Theif/Cleric/Mage setup; I've got my fighter and cleric in the front row and my mage and ranged-fighter theif in the back. The Clerics in this game seem to be based on the D&D archetype rather than the Final Fanatsy version- which is to say, they've got pretty good HP and armor and make reasonable tanks.
I'm looking forward to digging into this game more now that I've finished with Dawn of War 2.

: Well, I bought this today, on your
: recommendation. Jury is still out, as I
: haven't had much time to play yet. It does
: seem to have a lot of the old-school feel,
: which is good...the controls are a bit tough
: to work out, to make it really do what I
: want it to, and it really kinda leaves you
: to totally flounder around wondering exactly
: what the hell to do.
:
: In that regard, it seems pretty
: directionless...I honestly haven't really a
: clue about what I am really supposed to be
: doing, although the character I created as a
: level 1 Warrior is now a level 2 Warrior.
:
: Currently, my Party has 2 warriors, a Thief,
: and a Priest, all aligned either Lawful or
: Neutral.
:
: I am enjoying the game, but a bit of
: direction would be nice, instead of just
: cluelessly bumbling around, like I am
: currently doing.

: You know, it kind of disappoints me that I
: managed to write that entire
: blog-post-turned-cancerous without ever
: mentioning that.
:
: The Dark Spire is for the DS; the game's
: website is over here if you want to know
: what the game looks like. It should be in
: stores now, but note that it's an Atlus
: game, so it'll probably become impossible to
: find sooner rather than later.
:
: Tale of the Forsaken Land is for the PS2 and
: is incredibly hard-to-find (though it looks
: like there are a couple copies on ebay?). As
: you've probably gathered, I strongly
: recommend it if you happen to run across a
: copy.

: What platform is this available on? It
: seems
: about my speed. I could use a good,
: old-fashioned dungeon-crawler!
:
: I know, I know...all the young kids out
: there are gonna think it's boring as hell,
: but, damn, this is what I grew up with, and
: it's what I like, and damn what these kids
: of today like, I want a copy of this one!!
:
: Please tell me this is available on the DS.
