In the last few years, there has been a new "mainline" Dragon Quest game and- thus far- two "enhanced" remakes of older games in the series, one of which has never been released in the US before. There is a third enhanced-remake and two additional mainline titles on the way. Compare this against many of Square's other franchises, like Front Mission or SaGa or, yes, even Chrono Trigger.
I guess I just don't really see where you're coming from with your complaints. True, DQ doesn't get as much attention as FF, but I'd hardly call the litany of DQ games the "shit-on-a-stick" treatment.
