Reached the third floor now, and you get some new cool weapons and armor in the Shop when you get there, too.
To get to the third floor, you have to finish off the Pirates on Floor 2. I find the best way to deal with them, in spite of what some may say...start off in the dungeon with the spell that lowers everyone's AC by 3 points, and lasts the entire time you are in the dungeon...
Then, when you are facing the pirates...use the Priest to cast AC-lowering spells on your up-front man/men, and just whale away, physical attacks work best with lower AC. This works well with ANY large group of monsters I have yet encountered in the game.
My basic RPG strategy has always been...use physical attacks...use magic for healing and defense only. And it seems to work well in this game.
I have mapped out the entire first floor now...the western half of the basement, all of the 2nd floor except the part in the center...and am now mapping out the third floor.
I've done all the quests up to this point, and I am now beginning to consider what Hybrid classes to go for, although I want everyone to first be a Level 10 in one class before I go for ANYONE in a Hybrid class.
Currently, these are my character stats (not counting the 3-point-lower AC's they get whenever in the dungeon, courtesy of my Priest.
