Well, SE DID do a DS remake of Chrono Trigger, so they saw this and realized it would kill sales of the game, which is why they probably did this. If I was a big game corporation and did a remake for my game and see a fan remake, I would do the same to point out that "Hey, I already have a remake for your DS, don't play this hack!" Of course, they could have bribed the fan modders to use their ideas in the DS remake. <_<
