Well, I'll get IX because it's coming on DS/DSi.
I never got VIII, and never will, unless they put it on a platform I already own (DS/DSi, please)
As far as I am concerned, there are about 3 really good RPG series out there...
DW/DQ, Phantasy Star, and Hydlide. That's it. The rest of it sucks, mostly.
Let me clarify. For me, it only qualifies as RPG if it is menu-driven and turn-based.
Games like Castlevania, which I enjoy very much...or Metroid...those are not RPG's, per-se....I consider them "shooters." or quest games...not really true RPG's.
That said, I'm still hoping for them to release Phantasy Star Zero for download on the DSi. In English, please.

: That's pretty much the size of it. Once you

: the grass *is* no greener...
:
: FF2us and FF2 Easytype aren't the same.
: Easytype was only released in Japan, and was

:
: Yeah, I know they're technically different
: in some subtle ways (FF2 US has no

: easier just to consider them the same game
: for all intents and purposes. The point
: being, 95% of the enigmatic "cut
: content" of the original SNES US
: release was completely worthless, meaning
: ultimately, we never really *missed* it.
:
: Now, to help DQIX's cause in the US, I say
: we each buy half a million copies of it when
: it's released.
:
: ...err, well, I'll likely buy *one* copy.
: While it doesn't sound like it'd "rock

: look at RPGs forever" or anything
: melodramatic like that, it seems like an
: interesting enough game... At the least, 8
: was a nice step towards the future for a
: series that seemed to pride itself on being
: perpetually outdated...
