There are places that exist to hype games like this- try the "other games" sections that crop up in any game community. I first heard about The Dark Spire on Hardcore Gaming 101's forums- there tend to be a decent number of "hey look at this cool obscure thing" posts in their forums. Most other message boards I've been involved with- particularly communities formed around more obscure games- have eventually sprouted offshoots like that.
I'm sure that one of the eight billion gaming review blogs on the 'net focuses on games that you're interested in.
If I might be blunt, for someone who was decrying the "laziness" of "Generation Y" below, you seem to be awfully upset that you have to find things that you're interested in rather than having them handed to you.
